Ease it up with the best R&B songs of 2020, so far. From lustrous tracks to bedroom music, these new R&B songs feature house names who are always dominating the R&B charts such as Khalid, The Weeknd and Jhené Aiko as well as some newcomers so you’ll be getting a balanced taste from artists you love as well as some fresh new sounds. We’ve put together a list (in no particular order) of 20 of the best R&B songs of 2020, so far!

Roddy Ricch - The Box

Most mainstream listeners would be able to recognize this song from the start with its distinctive “EEE ERR” ad-lib. This song has topped charts globally and has even become a favourite Tik Tok meme along with a dance to recreate. Besides all that, Ricch raps about acquiring and protecting "his necessary riches".

Jhené Aiko - P*$$Y FAIRY(OTW)

Jhené Aiko’s soft and sexy vocals flow smoothly over the tracks instrumental as she sings a more loving composition to a partner who doesn’t prioritize her as much. Jhené’s showing us a spicier and nastier side of her in P*$$Y Fairy and we fans are absolutely feeling it too!

Khalid x Disclosure - Know Your Worth

Khalid x Disclosure was a collab that we were hoping to come back after their mega-hit song Talk came out in 2019. Know Your Worth is the ultimate summer vibes track that makes you want to move to its grove as well as appreciate and love yourself.

H.E.R. feat. Pop Smoke, A Boogie Wit da Hoodie & Chris Brown - 'Slide (Remix)'

Originally this R&B superstar collaborated with YG but this all-star remix elevated Slide to next level. This track oozes sexiness as Pop Smoke, A. Boogie and C. Breezy drop steamy and even a little romantic rap verses. There is a different flavour on this West Coast piece and you’ve got to give it a taste!

The Weeknd - Blinding Lights

Bringing about a more contemporary R&B feel, Blinding Lights feels more electro-pop with catchy beats and ‘80s-like synthesizer. Hitting the top charts of the UK and the US Billboard 100s since its release, this song is a must-add to your playlist for fun yet deep R&B vibes.

YG Feat. Kehlani - Konlusions

This masterpiece is the artists’ first collaboration together. Despite the rumours of these two dating each other, YG’s charismatic rap along with Kehlani’s sultry hook makes this song one of the best R&B hits of 2020.

Stormzy Feat. H.E.R - One Second

Stormzy isn’t just a popular grime artist, but a wholesome diverse musician. H.E.R is one of the greatest R&B artists of our time and their talents combined birthed this hauntingly beautiful track that rings with truth behind the lyrics.

Summer Walker Feat. Jhene Aiko - I'll Kill You

This record encapsulates what a woman would do for a man she loves. The lyrics are soft but you can literally feel the borderline obsessive energy and aggressive threats this duo promises anyone who messes with them.

Stormzy Feat. Ed Sheeran & Burna Boy - Own It

What can go wrong with an afro British, an Irish ginger and a native Nigerian on a  track together? NOTHING. Stormzy defies all odds again and shows that music is limitless, borderless and not tied to genre stereotypes.

PARTYNEXTDOOR feat. Drake - Loyal

Not sure what to play in the car while driving with your girlfriend/boyfriend? Play this song and we guarantee they’ll be loving you tenfold afterwards. A song about reassurance and love that’s suitable not only for couples but for dancing with your friends on summer nights as well!

Eminem Feat. Juice Wrld - Godzilla

King of Rap and Double Entrades, Eminem breaks the internet again with bullet-train speed spitting of lyrics (224 words in 30 seconds!). The late Juice Wrld delivers one of the catchiest choruses on Music to Be Murdered By, leaving the lyrical acrobatics in the verses to Eminem.

Lianne La Havas - Bittersweet

One of the most underrated artist in the industry right now, Lianne La Havas brings fresh, raw vocals that instantly transfixes to her listeners. Although minimalistic at its core, the melodic enchantment from this track is undeniable.

Luh Kel - Y.O.U.

Luh Kel is one of the new players in the R&B field but he is no rookie - his lyrical spin doesn’t reflect his very young age (17 years old). His bars are thought through and flow seamlessly with every beat on the track.

Justin Bieber feat. Kehlani - Get Me

This song strategically melds Bieber and Kehlani’s airy yet velvety vocals together to create a smooth R&B love ballad. It is vastly different from his album  Changes’s lead single, Yummy and showcases the R&Bieber side he wants to explore and share with the world.

Brianna Cash - Numb

Get ready to get in your feelings -- wait, we’re tired of getting caught up in the feels and so is Brianna Cash. She talks about the tragedy of a romantic connection between her and her lover that’s been completely shut down and she’s now numb to the pain it once caused.

Arin Ray - The Get Down

There’s a splash of nostalgia with this track that uses sounds of the late-night grooves from the 70s yet it doesn’t sound like an oldies hit as Arin’s cleverly remixed a bit of modern hip-hop with the elements of soulful disco music. With the seductive lyrics that are meant to get you up and grooving, this will be your next go-to hit!

Dreamville & Ari Lennox – BUSSIT

Ari Lennox’s method of focusing on that intuitiveness, structuring a sensual track, that’s not fast-paced and mirrors the original R&B era of 20 or more years ago is what makes this track worth being on the top lists. Using urban slang Buss It gives that luminous effect as it summarizes the song perfectly - without being overtly provocative.

070 Shake - Guilty Conscience

070 Shake contorts genres by meshing R&B vocals with pop hooks and catchy synthesized beats in this single. Futuristic yet nostalgic with a hint of melancholy, Shake’s managed to twist R&B a whole new way and still make it enjoyable to listen to.

J Hus Feat iceé tgm - Big Conspiracy

J Hus seems like he wants to tell his truth to the world with Big Conspiracy - He is a lost son of Gambia, a talented music connoisseur who is on the way to becoming an adult.  The chemistry between J Hush and Iceé’s voice is almost too perfect, they both compliment each other perfectly.

dvsn – A Muse

This song feels like a renaissance piece with a modern twist. Sampling Lonnie Liston’s “A Garden of Peace”, the duo created this mellow track with sensual beats with frontman Daniel Daley delivering a modern-day sonnet to his current love interest.
